A brief history of the Chicago & North Western Iowa Division mainline, now part of the Overland Route:

06/16/22

This standard through girder span crosses over Prairie Creek near Blairstown.
Built in 1931, this bridge replaced an older through girder span.
The structure is heavily built, sitting on reused stone substructures. It sits near the intersection of 77th Street and 23rd Street. The stone substructures were repaired with steel bands in 1961.
Overall, the bridge remains in good condition, and should be able to support traffic for a considerable time longer.

The author has ranked the bridge locally significant, due to the common design and newer age.
